How Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run at Galaxy’s Edge actually connects to Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

The following contains SPOILERS for story events aboard Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at Walt Disney World

When Walt Disney World opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, it promised a new land that would make guests feel like they were inside their own. star wars adventure. Now, with the opening of Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, that adventure is taken to an even more immersive level. This includes creating a deeper story for the events of one of Galaxy’s Edge attractions, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.

The first Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction to open gives star wars fans the chance to live a dream in fly the Millennium Falcon. Honestly, the story created to justify this experience could have been anything and fans would probably be okay with that. However, it turns out that the ride’s story actually serves a larger purpose for people who enjoy an enjoyable cruise on the Halcyon.

What Happens in Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run

When you enter the main pre-show room of Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, you meet a guy who is a fan of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will know: a smuggler by the name of Hondo Ohnaka. Hondo has made a deal with Chewbacca to “borrow” the Millennium Falcon, but he needs people to pilot the ship, where the guests enter. They are basically hired by Hondo as freelance pilots. Do this little job and Hondo will pay you some money.

The work is as simple as it is illegal. Take the Millennium Falcon off Batuu and fly to Corellia. Once there, steal coaxium from the First Order by hijacking a train. Then bring the stolen fuel back to Batuu. Depending on how much Coaxium you get, Hondo will give you credits, after deducting some for any damage to the Falcon, of course.

Although there is some variability in how the events of the attraction may play out, you will almost certainly come back with coaxium. For most people the journey ends here, but not if you return to the Halcyon after your excursion.

What can happen aboard Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

A lot can happen on board Star Wars: Galactic Star Cruiser. As part of your experience, you can do a variety of different things that can impact the path you take through the story. But one of those paths is directly connected to the coaxium you helped Hondo steal.

Events aboard the Halcyon place guests in the middle of a small-scale battle between the First Order and the Resistance. At the start of the voyage, the First Order boards the luxury cruise ship, believing that some on board might have sympathies for the Resistance. The Stormtroopers and First Order officers decide to say aboard, just to make sure nothing happens that shouldn’t.

It turns out the First Order is not wrong, several of the Halcyon’s crew are working with the Resistance against the First Order. And if you make the right choices, you could be called into the ship’s engine room by cruise director Lenka Mok.

Here, Lenka reveals to guests that she uses the Halcyon to run a supply chain (read: smuggling operation) for the Resistance. With the First Order aboard the ship, it’s almost a given that they’ll figure out what’s going on. When they do, the first thing the First Order will do to gain control of the ship will be to shut down the engines. That is why the guests are gathered in the engine room.

Using special data tapes, guests fan out to different parts of the engine room and, through a variety of different puzzle-solving mechanics, proceed to neutralize the Halcyon’s engines. This means that when the First Order tries to shut everything down, it won’t work. But the waiver will not have access to the ship’s existing fuel supply. There is good news, however, as Lenka has already made arrangements to source coaxium from the planet below.

So that seems to be the coaxium you got, or will get, when you visit Batuu as part of your Galactic Starcruiser experience. While I didn’t have the full Galactic Starcruiser experience on Batuu during my recent visit, it was also explained that Halcyon guests, via special MagicBands they will wear, will get experiences unique to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge likewise, it is therefore possible that guests doing the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run attraction will know by experiencing the ride that the coaxium they steal is intended to be used to aid them.

You will then see the fruits of your labor come together in the Galactic Starcruiser Grand Finals. The First Order and the Resistance clash, and as expected, the First Order attempts to take control of the ship. Luckily, due to work being done in the engine room, it doesn’t quite work as expected.

More Connections Between Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Galactic Starcruiser

This is almost certainly just one of many ways the events of Galactic Starcruiser and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will connect. There are several different paths guests can take as part of the story of this new themed experience, but you’ll have to choose which path you want; you can’t do everything. Other guests might never enter the engine room. The space is actually locked behind a door that cannot be opened by MagicBands who have been granted access.

I myself was only shown this particular path, and there are certainly other things that could have happened. There were other elements of the series grand finale that didn’t make sense to me because I hadn’t been aware of them, but clearly made more sense to others.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is, without a doubt, a new level of themed entertainment that goes beyond what we consider a theme park experience. It really makes you feel like you’re inside a star wars adventure, and that extends to a theme park you may have experienced before, but takes on entirely new dimensions when viewed through the lens of the Galactic Starcruiser.
